You’ve spoken and we’ve listened. Since our subscribers feedback we have been able to make changes and improvements, making our AM serum the best we possibly can for you.
Whilst you love this product, we understand that the high levels of Active 16+ Manuka Honey in this initial formulation has felt sticky for some subscribers, especially those with dry skins. Manuka Honey in its concentrated form has a larger molecular structure and can, on drier skins, be harder to absorb and result in a peeling effect when makeup is applied.
Often using natural ingredients in a formula can be challenging. We have had our chemists working on an improved formulation over the last three months and we would like to thank you for your patience and thank our staff for quickly and pro-actively making the required changes.
Our NEW and improved formulation has slightly reduced Active 16+ Manuka Honey, with having added Manuka Oil to improve the consistency without affecting the methylglyoxal levels in the formula. Lastly, we have added natural vegetable based glycerine to increase absorption. Glycerin is a natural humectant (meaning it retains water), allowing our powerful ingredients to get where they need to go.
Our Hero ingredient “SuperFood” in this product has not changed:
NZ Ponga Seed Fern is a species of fern, that grows freely in the forests of New Zealand. For centuries Maori people have applied the pulp from young fronds of the Ponga Fern directly onto wounds to repair and protect the skin, often visible results are apparent within days. A unique composition of polysaccharides derived from the Ponga Fern forms an elastic, resistant and continuous film on the surface of the skin, improving cutaneous relief and prolonging the improved appearance by preventing skin slackening.
16+ Manuka Honey can be applied topically to the surface of the skin, or be taken orally either in its natural form or as a supplement, maximising its range of benefits to the body.
The efficacy of manuka honey’s powerful anti-bacterial properties was reaffirmed in recent years by tests conducted by Sydney University’s School of Molecular and Microbial Biosciences. In the course of their study, manuka honey was able to kill every strain of bacteria it was tested against, including antibiotic-resistant “superbugs”, some of which are flesh-eating. Importantly, the research also found that the bacteria were unable to develop a resistance to the honey in the way they can with general antibiotics.
Furthermore, New Zealand’s University of Waikato has formed the Waikato Honey Research Unit, on this select team is the same scientist who first uncovered manuka’s unique anti-bacterial properties. The key aim of the research unit is to better study the cellular composition of honey and examine its antimicrobial activity in the hope of unlocking more of its potential benefits. In 2004, Britain’s National Health Service (NHS) licensed the use of medical grade manuka honey – which must adhere to strict regulations and meet high standards in order to qualify- as a wound dressing. Its ability to remain highly effective in the presence of fluid and bacteria makes it a natural choice as a treatment method. What’s more, in the same year, the NHS also authorised the use of the honey in sterilised, medical-grade skin creams.
